The "Do It For Dan" Campaign
Dan Edwards, centre, is surrounded by family and friends, including Joanna Edwards, Denise Kohlmeier, Andy Brandt, Tom Bernard, twin brother Matthew, mother Floret, and Crystal Butler. At back are, from left, Doug Bain, Dave Brown, Lucio Sandrin, Ken Maaten, Ray Curran, Jeremy D'Angelo, Rod McKinnon, Inyang, Okutinyang, and Matthew Bennett. On August 18, 2006, Dan Edwards was involved in a freak accident that caused paralysis from the neck down. He was taken to the Sarnia hospital, and immediately transferred to London’s Victoria Hospital where he underwent spinal fixation surgery. Immediately following his surgery in September, Dan wasn’t able to move any part of his body; but now, a mere seven months later, he is able to move most of his upper body. Dan is a strong-spirited gentleman, who’s determined not only to walk again, but to eventually run. He wants people to know that “challenges come up and they have to believe they will overcome them.” Some renovations are needed before Dan can return to his house. These Renovations are expected to cost $150,000 and people of all ages, across the Sarnia-Lambton community are coming together to raise the money and “Do it for Dan.”
